This is a good deal, and this horn should make someone really happy. It is very much like a Selmer or Yamaha in this version of the Super 20. The keywork is easy to handle if you’re used to modern tenors also. And at medium volumes, they have a medium-bright, complex, jazz/rock-leaning tone that is a joy to hear, and that is different from anything made today. They manage to project while still sounding warm and full. They have the ability to project and cut through a section or through an entire band like no other tenor ever made. SilverSonic tenors are just great for a number of reasons. Or you can get it cheaply with older pads and have your own favorite saxophone tech do everything to your specifications. If you want this to be done pre-sale through me, just let me know, and we can discuss options. It has not been played in decades, so definitely plan on replacing at least some pads. This horn came out of a collection of saxophones that I had the opportunity to buy. I bought this from another dealer who thought it was original, but I think at least the bell has been redone – maybe to shine up the silver again at some point after it had started to tarnish a little bit. The engraving looks great – nice and sharp, much like an original lacquer horn.

Well, I have just acquired a Super 20 alto, it is a very early Eastlake one (428k) and has silver neck, underslung octave key, engraved lower key cups etc. There are a few very minor dings and signs of some ding removal.

As a player, this horn is bold, resonant, incredibly responsive with fast action, has good intonation and simply sings. There is minor lacquer wear near the neck-strap ring on the back of the horn. The neck is the famous under-slung octave key style neck and has no pull-down.

All pads, corks, springs & felts are in great condition with years of life left in them. This horn has been recently regulated for professional playing. This model was played on by many legends of the saxophone, most notably Cannonball Adderley, and this horn produces that sound to a tee. The sound and resonance, response and feel of this Super 20 Silversonic are second to none. This King Super 20 Silversonic Alto is an exceptional specimen of King's most highly regard horn in history.
